There is just 1 day to go for MICAT 2012, the MBA entrance exam for Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA), scheduled for Sunday, March 4, 2012. MICAT Chairperson Dr. Shubhra P Gaur mentioned that the exam will be taken by approximately 3000 candidates. This year, MICAT will test the general awareness, creative skills, writing ability and psychometry of the test takers.
The duration of the paper will be 1 hour 55 minutes, or approximately two hours. Dr. Gaur states that the paper will consist of two booklets. “Booklet-1 has three sections: Section 1- MCQs on Divergent Thinking and Creativity Potential. Section 2 MCQs on General Awareness about contemporary social and industry issues including areas around media, marketing, advertising and business Section 3 for Written Communication Ability Test.
Booklet -2 has a psychometric test.”
There will be negative marking in Sections A and B of Booklet 1. Hence you need to be careful while answering the Multiple Choice Questions. “Questions in Sections A and B have only one most appropriate answer. Each wrong answer will get ¼ negative marks. Un-attempted questions do not carry negative marking,’ Dr. Gaur states.
The Psychometric Test in the Booklet 2 is compulsory and you have to answer each and every question of that section. “Test Booklet-II has three sections: D, E and F. There is no right or wrong answer in this part. You should answer ALL the questions in this Test Booklet-II to ensure that your answers in Test Booklet-I are evaluated,” mentions Dr. Gaur.
For the candidates who would be taking the test on this Sunday, Dr. Gaur suggests, “Remain calm and manage time well so that you can complete the entire question paper within time. For Written Communication ability test, you should read the questions carefully, be precise and organized in your presentation. For the psychometric test, you should definitely complete all the questions honestly.”
Since MICA has shortlisted the candidates on the basis of CAT scores, MICAT has changed the pattern from the past years. This year onwards, MICAT will shun the sections of Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Reasoning areas. In an earlier communication with MBAUniverse.com, Dr. Gaur had stated, ““We will use CAT scores for Verbal and quantitative ability and MICAT-2012 will not include Verbal and Quantitative ability sections since CAT examination assesses these two abilities.”
