India's premier Communications Management Institute, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), is living up to its vision of being an innovative and creative school by doing away with the norm of the mandatory research-based dissertation that the second year students of Post Graduate Diploma in Management Communications (PGDMC) had to undertake.
Instead, the second year PDDMC students of MICA have the option of taking up any 2 advanced courses out of the 6 new advanced courses that have been introduced this year. These six new courses are:
- Film Making
- Content Generation
- Marketing Models
- Behavioural Economics
- News Report Writing
- Persuasion & Change Agentry
The Head of the Advanced Courses Committee at MICA, Prof Shubhra P Gaur told click4college that dissertation was made optional for the second year PGDMC students at MICA because a research based dissertation is not relevant for all the students hence the provision of such an option between dissertation and advanced courses.
“Each of the six courses offered this year has been developed keeping in mind the emerging requirements of the industry and the evolving role of communication among corporates. Almost 50% of the batch has opted for the advanced courses which clearly reflect the interest levels these courses have generated. The advanced courses are based on higher level readings, case based discussions, live project assignments and innovative evaluation methods”, Prof Gaur told click4college.
Admissions are open for MICA's flagship programme (Post-graduate Programme Diploma in Management (Communications): PGDM-C) for the 2013-15 batch. This programme (PGDM-C) is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Association of Indian University (AIU) which equates it with an MBA degree. The maximum intake for PGDM (C) is 180 students. (Read: MICA invites Applications to PGDM-Communications 2013-15; XAT 2013 Scores will be Accepted for MICAT 2013)
