Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Bangalore conducted Management Day 2014 on March 6, 2014. It was the time of the year to felicitate and acknowledge achievers for their work and dedication shown over the year.
Management day is that time of the year when every committee among the 11 student committees presents their achievements to the college. It was the time when the students of SIBM-B buzzed with anticipation for the result they have been waiting for a long time. The best of them were felicitated.
The event commenced with the Director’s speech, followed by Mr. Mittu Chandilya, the AirAsiaCEO’s and Mr. Raj Raghavan, the Director HR Amazon Indiaspeech on leadership and their past experiences. This was followed by the awards ceremony for felicitating the students for their contribution towards the college and outstanding performances in their respective fields.
A highlight of the program was the swearing in of the newly elected student council for the upcoming academic year.
Speakers’ profile of Management Day-2014:
Dr. Rajesh Panda, Director SIBM-Bangalore is a graduate of IIM, Ahmedabad and he holds a PhD degree in Retailing. He is a member of the Board of Examination-SIU and has served as member of Academic councils of SIU and SCDL in the past. Dr. Panda has vast experience in corporate training, research and consulting with companies like Godrej, HUL, ITC, IBM, Amdocs, Zensar, Mphasis, Wipro, CapGemini, John Deere etc. Dr. Panda is a reviewer of marketing books with Pearson Education and Tata McGraw-Hill education private limited. Dr. Panda has recently been awarded the “Best Professor in Marketing Management” by LOKMAT National Education Leadership Awards.
Mr. Mittu Chandilya, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AirAsia, completed his MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore and from Tsinghua University in Beijing. Mr. Chandilya was an entrepreneur when he was just 19. His company, Save-our-Syrup, held a patent that alerted restaurant managers when they were running low on syrup at the soda fountain. His previous work experience also includes a stint at Ingersoll-Rand where he was theyoungest-ever general manager.He also headed the Asia Pacific practice for recruitment consulting firm EgonZehnder’s services business.
The current student President Raghav Agrawal expressing his views said, "Management Day is the annual official event where everybody`s effort is recognized and appreciated. It acknowledges the academic and extracurricular effort put in by students, staff and faculty. Since, SIBM-B is student driven college, awards felicitated at management day gives motivation and energy to the junior batch to take the college to greater heights."
Overall the event was a great success.
