In 2013, the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra announced the scrapping of state government’s Common Entrance Test (CET) in lieu of Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) because All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) was accepting it. The CET would be conducted for admission to two year Masters in Management Studies (MMS), Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) in MBA colleges in Maharashtra. This resulted in inadequate response from B-school aspirants in the state. Over 40% of the 45,000-odd seats in the state remained vacant last year, prompting several management institutes to demand that the CET be revived.
So in 2014, the Maharashtra CET was revived and conducted on 15th & 16th March. About 49, 276 students appeared for the exam and about 49, 252 MBA aspirants in Maharashtra cleared the CET when the results were announced on 8th April. This is indicative of how popular the MAH CET/ MMS CET is.
Following the results of MAH CET 2014/ MMS CET 2014, the centralized admission process will be as follows:
- 3 rounds of interaction with students
- Final & fourth round will be a counseling-based admission round
The good news here is that there will be no Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI); the non-zero CET score will be enough to secure a seat at a management institute in Maharashtra.
Timetable for MAH CET 2014/ MMS-CET 2014
