Lucknow University (LU) on September 12, 2013, introduced a Central Facility for Computational Research (CFCR), popularly known as Computer Cluster.
A widely used term, cluster means when independent computers are combined into a unified system through software and networking. A computer cluster consists of a set of loosely or tightly connected computers that work together so that they can be viewed as a single system.
LU Vice-Chancellor SB Nimse launched the portal of the cluster through which the users would be able to log into the server and use the facility. He stressed on the need of utilising the facility by researchers and regular updates.
Prof S Gadre of IIT -Kanpur's chemistry department said through computer clusters, students can achieve a lot, he said. CFCR will be monitored by Prof Anil Mishra from chemistry department.
