Now that I am on the verge of entering the real world, there are a lot of things I am planning on doing. Learning to drive is one of the first things on my mind. I really need to stop travelling in the metro. I know it is selfish and bad for the environment, but some of my experiences on the metro have been so horrifying that I shudder to think of three more such years. I know the metro is the preferred ride of most college kids, and I would love to be a part of this trend, but I don’t know if that will ever be.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have any problem with people exercising their right to public transport. In fact I support it. My disagreement is with those people who whine about the over-crowding and shout at their fellow passengers to get off the train. Sample this- “Can’t you see how crowded it is, still trying to board, stupid people”. When I hear this line, I get really angry. If you want a nice comfy ride home, why don’t you get your own car? Everyone has the right to board a train, however filled it may be, if you want space, get off! No one will really want to get on a stuffy train if they are not in a hurry, anyway. I think it is important to keep that in mind.

And I think learning to drive is going to be the best way to solve this mutual disagreement. And anyway, learning a new task is always thrilling.

I am giving up my space on the train to keep those folks happy.
