...Kyunki 80% bhi kabhi 90% tha

This year,pretty much every class 12 student has miraculousy scored the exact score of 95 in English.Yes, we Indians are really brilliant .And united we stand,scoring the same marks.

‘Irritated’ is probably an understatement.Um…dumbfounded is the correct word.Nobody knows what went wrong.Remember your friend,who barely scored passing marks in class 12 pre-boards?He has now scored and surpassed your score-he got a 95 in English,while you scored 85.Poor you.

“KITNI %age AAYI??ACHHI TOH AAYI NA???”-This question.This irritating,repetitive…(and did I say,irritating?) question has every student going mad.What’s the big fuss about a “good percentage” anyway?.Maybe its because of the ‘cut-offs’,which cut off a student from taking his desired course in his/her favourite college.Your relatives are more worried about which college you are going to get in,than you yourself.

Today, scoring 90% is not enough.In the earlier times,when your parents were kids studying in class 12 themselves,scoring 80% and above was considered to be “nothing less than conquering Mt.Everest”,and the students scoring such marks “genius”.But today,scoring even 90% isn’t intelligent enough.Throw a rock,and chances are it will hit a 95-percenter,who is cribbing and crying over the fact that he didn’t score 96%.Also,the pressure to “score more than the Einsteins and Madam Curies” of our families makes us more nervous than the board exam itself.

Uncles,aunties,mamas,mamis,chachas and chachis-all of you need to understand that every student performs according to his/her capabilities.Some of us can cram and study for hours and hours,and still not score good marks,while some of us study for a few hours,and score the highest marks!
