Kanyathon 2013: an initiative of IFIM Business School towards Save Girl Child

The students of IFIM Business School, in association with SAFE – Students Against Female Exploitation, will be hosting a Walkathon on September 8, 2013

Being held at IFIM B-School, Electronic City, the nobility of this event lies in the fact that people from all walks of life will be getting together with a common cause in their hearts – “To save the girl child”. The various competitions in the event will be starting at 8:00am.

Event will be graced by the presence of number of celebrities from varied fields like sports, film/media, social sector, corporate world and others and will make it more exciting.

The girl children, who should be a much valued asset to any family, are often looked down upon. Sometimes they are put through unspeakable atrocities, and sometimes they are sold off, disowned or even killed. According to the 2012 census, the sex ratio in India is 940 females to every 1000 males. Such statistics are not only outrageous, but also humiliating.

This is an initiative taken by the institute not only to create awareness but also will focus on spread education among the children of underprivileged areas of J.J Nagar Village in Electronic City under “Shiksha Aadhaar” project.

Event is comprises of drawing competition for students of standard 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th, a costume run for students of standard 10th, 11th and 12th and a Walkathon, which is open to all, and is expected to be a major draw.

Participants for costume run are requested to be in their school sports uniform because it will be great for the institute to promote the theme using different school brands.

For the Drawing competition and the costume run, the first prize is worth Rs.5,000/-, second prize is worthRs.3,000/- and the third prize is worth Rs.2,000/ For the walkathon, the first prize is worth Rs.25,000/-, the second prize is worth Rs.15,000/- and the third prize is worth Rs.10,000/-.

All the institutions that participate will receive a participation certificate from IFIM/S.A.F.E, which will show their dedication towards helping out the society.
