Students who are planning to appear for JNU entrance exams this year, will have to spend a little more than before for the entrance exam fees. The entrance exam fee, starting this academic session, has been increased by 27%.
As per officials from the admission department, this decision was taken at a meeting of the Academic Council followed by the Executive Council.
This increase in the entrance examination fee will not be applied to the reserved categories like SC/ST, physically disabled and below poverty line.
As per sources, the last time when the fee was revised was back in 2003. The new fee will be applicable on the general category, OBC and foreign students.
Previously, the BA application fee was Rs. 420 and opting for a single or additional programme was Rs. 630 and Rs. 800 respectively. The revised fees structure is Rs. 530, Rs.800 and Rs. 1,000.
The fee for MPhil, PhD, MTech, MSc, MCA and MA applications has been increased to Rs. 400 from Rs. 300.
For added disciplines, students will have to shell out Rs. 575 and Rs. 750 respectively.
