Islamic Art and Craft: Indo-Iranian Enterprise for Preservation and Promotion’ organized by organized by Premchand Arhives & Literary Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)in association with Iran Culture House was inaugurated on August 6, 2015 at Husain Art Gallery, JMI by Dr. Najma Heptulla, Union Minister for Minority Affairs along with the presence of Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI and Mr. Ghulam Raza Ansari, Ambassador, Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran. The exhibition is on till August 18, 2015.
Scholars, faculty and staff from Faculties of Fine Arts, Law, the Department of Persian, History & Culture, Arabic and the Academy of International Studies attended the inaugural function in huge number. The exhibition intends to give an opportunity to get to know about the art of calligraphy which was used to decorate Arabic Aayats of Holy Quran which also inspired the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb of India.
Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Dr. Najma Heptulla, expressed her glee at the exhibition. She had discussions about the art of calligraphy and ethnic and native techniques used to preserve them with Iranian Ambassador and Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI. She had an interaction with the scholars to endorse the art of calligraphy and spread artistic skills all over the country.
The students will be benefitted with the exhibition and would learn artistic skills and develop interest in promoting these skills.
