International Conference at Siddaganga Institute of Technology

Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering of Siddaganga Institute of Technology jointly organized an international conference on ‘Green and Clean Technologies in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology’ on February 14-15, 2014.

On this occasion Dr. G.D Yadav (Vice chancellor, ICT Mumbai) was present as a chief guest. Among the other dignitaries Dr. S.K. Sharma (Professor emeritus, PU, Chandigarh), Prof. N. Yamamoto (Research professor, National university of Singapore), Dr. B. Vishwanathan (Professor, IIT, Madras) were present.

Director of the institute Dr. M.N. Channabasappa presided over the function and Principal Dr. Shivakumaraiah, Dean Prof. Basavarajaiah consented to grace the function.

On his inaugural address Dr. Yadav pitched about the various problems associated in today’s era, like Increasing population, growing energy needs, environmental degradation and their comprehensive solution by using green and clean technology aspects of chemical engineering and Biotechnology.

During plenary lecture session Dr Sharma supported the views of Dr Yadav and emphasized the use of genetically modified food, organic farming and their environmental concern.

Prof. N.Yamamoto, a microbiologist highlighted about the contribution of microbiology for the betterment of mankind and added about the commercial importance of various Biotech products.

Head of the chemical engineering department Dr. K.L.Shivabasappa presided the valedictory function and Head of the Biotechnology Department Dr. B S Gowrishankar delivered the vote of thanks to all the Staffs, Students, Sponsers, alumnus and guests for their presence and making it great success.

Dr P N Kundu (Professor, Biotechnology) has concluded the conference by his keynote address.
