Industrial Visit to Greenply Plywood by BESC Kolkata

Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC), University of Calcutta conducted an industrial visit to Greenply Plywood on 12^th September 2015. This visit was organized under the supervision of Professor Kaushik Chatterjee to enlighten the students about the importance of visiting a manufacturing plant.

Greenply Industries Limited (GIL) is one of the largest and well known interior infrastructure companies of India with a turnover of Rs. 1560 crores accounting for almost 30% of the organized plywood and MDF boards in the country. It also markets a comprehensive portfolio of residential and commercial floor products.

During the visit, the students were divided into three groups accompanied by a site manager and supervisor for better understanding of the processes that are crucial to the industrial unit. The students were given a brief about the working of different machines and equipments and how they are used optimally.

The students were also familiarized with the ban that exists of cutting of trees for wood and the various countries from where wood is imported- like Burma and Australia.



This industrial visit gave students’ knowledge of the working strategies of the industry.  It was overall an exciting knowledgeable experience.
