IITs Pre-Placement Offers at an All-Time High!

Amidst economic slowdown, IITs are hitting a new record in their pre-placement offers. Some of the IITs have witnessed a bumper recruitment season this year, soaring up about a third from the last year. Employers are hiring through the tried and tested internship route.

Companies offer pre-placement offers to deserving candidates to ensure that they do not miss out on talent during final placements.

IIT-BHU in Varanasi has registered more than 32 percent increase in the number of PPOs to 94 from 71 in the last year. While at IIT Roorkee, the number of pre-placement offers has seen a 27 percent increase to 108 so far, from 85 a year ago. All the other IITs including that of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kharagpur and Guwahati have seen a surge in the PPOs with most of them recording the highest number of offers ever in 2022.

IIT Kharagpur has received 170 PPOs, which is close to what it received in 2015. On the other hand, IIT Madras has received 63 PPOs already. There are several companies offering PPOs for the first time that include Maxlinear, Barclays, IFMR and Wipro Consumer Care; in addition, most companies are making more offers than in the past. Some of the companies include Accenture services, American Express India, Vodafone, Visa and Capital One Financial Services. IIT Guwahati has already crossed a tally of more than 70 PPOs so far. IIT Kharagpur has witnessed 38 companies offering 170 PPOs as compared to 175 PPOs offered by 59 companies last year.
