IIT Roorkee: Organizing Institute for GATE 2017

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting GATE 2022 entrance examination.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 will be held on February 4 – 5, 2022 & February 11 – 12, 2022.

Candidates seeking admission in postgraduate (like M.E., M. Tech, direct Ph.D.) in IITs, IISc and various other institutes/Universities can start registering from September 1, 2022.

What’s new in GATE?

• GATE 2022 will be conducted for foreign candidates in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).
• The XE paper now has a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). With this, the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).

Apart from facilitating admission in postgraduate programmes in engineering, science and technology, the GATE entrance exam also serves as a gateway to landing a job with Public Sector Undertakings (PSU).

In the last few years, the number of PSUs and private companies recruiting engineering graduates through GATE has increased remarkably.

Some of the major PSUs that recruit through GATE include, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., National Fertilizers Ltd., BEL Optoelectronic Devices (BEL), MDL (Mazagon Dock Limited), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Oil  & Natural Gas Corporation of India, Vizag Steel Plant, NTPC, GAIL, BHEL, AAI, National Fertilizers Ltd., Neyveli Lignite Corporation, etc.
