The Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISER) were set up in Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India to promote high quality scientific research and training.

IISER is inviting applications to its 5 year BS-MS dual degree with major in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for the 2013-14 academic session.

 

About IISER’s Dual BS-MS Programme

It is a five year dual degree programme for bright and motivated science students who have passed class XII in 2013 or are appearing for the same.

The programme integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope for multidisciplinary interactions. The training during the programme enables students to pursue a career in academia, R&D institutes and science based industries.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates satisfying at least one of the following three criteria may apply.

1. KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) Basic Science Stream: Students qualifying in SA (2011) / SX (2012) / SB (2012) / SP (Passed 10 +2 in 2012).

2. Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2013: Students obtaining a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in class XII and securing a place in the rank list.

3. Central & State Boards: Students who have passed class XII in 2012 or are appearing for the same in Science stream with either:

i)  Aggregate marks above equal to the cut-off percentage declared by DST as eligibility for INSPIRE fellowship      (http://www.inspire-dst.gov.in/). For OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PD category candidates, there is 5% relaxation in the DST cut-off. The cut-off for SC/ST candidates is 55% in class 12 for all boards.

Note: Merely meeting the eligibility criteria or call letter for counseling does not entitle a candidate for admission to IISERs.

Students applying through State and Central Boards channel will be required to appear and qualify in IISER Aptitude Test.

 

Scholarships

All BS-MS students are eligible for a monthly scholarship of Rs. 5000/- awarded by KVPY /INSPIRE scheme as per DST norms, subject to consistently good academic performance.

 

How to Apply

Applications for admissions are to be submitted online at http://www.iiser-admissions.in . Please follow the instructions for filling up the application form and other relevant details given on the website. There will be a non-refundable application fee of Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ST).
