IISER, Mohali PhD Admissions 2017 Begins

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali has started inviting application from all the eligible candidates for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme for the academic session starting in January 2022.

IISER PhD Admission Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants need to have a Master’s degree in Science, Engineering or Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for PhD in IISER, Mohali.

Also, an applicant should have GATE/CSIR or UGC-NET/JEST/NBHM-JRF/ JGEEBILS (TIFR/NCBS) GPAT/ ICMR-JRF/ DBT-JRF/DST-INSPIRE qualification in the choice of subject

PhD in Biology: Those interested should have M.Sc/ B.Tech/ MBBS/ MTech or equivalent degree.

PhD in Chemistry: Aspirants must possess an MSc degree in chemistry/physics (with a minimum of 55 per cent marks) or equivalent degree.

PhD in Mathematics: To have successful application one should have one of the national examination GATE/CSIR-UGC-NET/NBHM-JRF qualification with Mathematics as the primary subject.

PhD in Physics: Interested ones ought to have Master's degree in physics or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in engineering.

PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences: Applicants of this subject must have MSc/ BTech/ MTech in atmospheric sciences/earth and environmental sciences/ chemistry/physics.

PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences: Those interested should have MA/MSc/MPhil degree (with a minimum of 55 per cent marks) in one or more of the following subjects: Philosophy (Ethics, Indian Philosophy, Analytical Philosophy and Philosophy of Science)/Sociology/Anthropology/Modern Indian History/Urban History / Political Economy/Archaeology/Prehistory and Paleoanthropology. Besides this,  candidates can also apply for Ancient Indian History (Cultural heritage studies)/Gender Studies/Geography/English Literature (Postmodernism, Literary Theory, American Literature) or related areas such as development studies, South Asian studies.
