The Indian Institute of Management, Indore celebrated its 20th Foundation Day on Monday. IIM Indore was established in 1996 and was the sixth in the family of IIMs.
R Gopalakrishnan, an author-cum-corporate advisor, was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that the management education today has reached a whole new level in India. This was not the case 20 years ago. He said that the management education was flaky that time and parents preferred IITs over management institutes for their children for proper education and successful jobs.
Gopalakrishnan added that since then, the management education has risen to new heights and matured into a blooming flower. He spoke about the modern-day managers and the growing stress in their lives. He said that the education system today focuses only on producing competent managers. They are skilled, talented and learned but can they be considered as happy managers?
He advised the future managers to work on six areas of life – Maturity, Purpose, Trust, Courage, Success and Luck.
The students were also addressed by the institute director Rishikesha T Krishnan.
Top five percentile students of the integrated programme in management (2012-17) and postgraduate programmes (2015-17) were awarded certificate for academic excellence in the 2015-16 session.
