IIM Fee Structure & Total Seats: An Overview

Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) are one of the top B-Schools in the country that offer management education to candidates who crack CAT exam. At present, there are 20 IIMs which are operational in India. These are located in cities like Ranchi, Raipur, Calcutta, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Indore, Shillong, Trichy, among others.

It is mandatory for management aspirants to crack the CAT examination in order to get admission in the IIM. Later, candidates get admission on the basis of their marks scored in the CAT exam and IIM cut-off list. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an online exam conducted for students seeking admission in Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in management at IIMs and other renowned Management Institutes of India.

IIM Lucknow will be conducting CAT this year and the notification is expected to be out on July 30. The exam will most probably be held in the first week of December 2022. CAT 2022 application form is expected to be released in the second week of August and the last date to apply for the test will fall in last week of September 2022.

Apart from fulfilling the IIM selection criteria for two-year Post-Graduation Programme (PGP) in Management, aspirants must also keep in mind IIM seat availability and IIM fee structures. The IIM college fees or the PGP IIM course fee is different for each IIM.

IIM MBA Fee

In the previous year, there has been a spike in the fee structure for IIM Ahmedabad. The total tuition fee used to be INR 18.50 Lacs, but the upgraded PGP fees at IIM-A is now INR 19.50 Lacs.

While justifying the hike, an official statement by the institute said: "IIM-A fee increases have tended to lag inflation rate over the past several years. Taking 2009 as the base, even with the proposed increase, the 2022-18 fee would be 10 percent lower than inflation-adjusted terms compared to the 2009-11 fee.

"The Institute costs have been rising in step with inflation. Although we continue to drive for efficiency, part of the cost increase is reflected in fee increase."

IIM MBA Fee Structure and Seats

While IIM MBA course design is different for each institute, the guidelines for IIM selection criteria and admission procedures is same for all.

The major programme in all the IIM institutes is Post Graduate Programme in Management of two years, which is equivalent to the regular MBA programme. Other than this, they offer:

• Post Graduate Diploma Programme of one year
• Fellow Programme in Management
• Short Term Executive Courses
• Part Time Executive Courses
• Distance MBA Courses for Working Executives

Graduation is the minimum qualification for most of the programmes along with valid CAT scores.

The IIM admission criteria for foreign students will be a valid GMAT score.

The admission authority also considers IIM interview scores, academic and professional achievements and group discussions when shortlisting candidates for admission.

IIM Selection Procedure 2022 - 20

The IIMs will publish IIM cutoff 2022, which will serve as a parameter for selecting candidates for admission in management courses in IIM.
