We all know that clearing the Common Admission Test (CAT) is only half the battle won; it’s actually the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) round that decides your fate.
In an exclusive interview, Mr. Alok Bansal (IMS Director Delhi region) has not just explained the purpose behind conducting these rounds but has also suggested ways to crack them.
“These are simulations exercises which are conducted by business schools to figure out how you would perform in the corporate world or real life after completing your management qualification,” he said.
“These segments judge you on various traits like whether or not you can lead an organization tomorrow, manage people in a firm or communicate your ideas and decisions in an appropriate manner,” he added.
How to crack a GD/PI round?
1. Introspection – It is very important for you to know yourself so that you can relate it to your long-term goals. Questions like “Tell me something about yourself” or “Where do you see yourself after 10 years” are asked to judge your personality traits and whether or not you know enough about yourself.
2. General Awareness – When you’re given a general topic in GD or when a general question is thrown at you in an interview, make sure you support your arguments with examples. Backing your claims with evidence will put you in a positive light and people would think of you as someone who has done his/her homework. Therefore, keep yourself updated with the latest news and events to improve your chances of sailing through GD/PI.
