DU students may be 'cool' in quite a few spheres of life, but one experience that most DU students lose out on is 'Hostel life'.
Don't deny it. As much as you may say that "home is where the heart is"...the truth is that "hostel is where the happening is". Since most engineering students stay at hostels, they take every opportunity to rub this fact in the face of all of their non-engineer buddies.
The friendships that are forged in hostel rooms are stuff of legends. My friend and fellow CJ Yusra summed it up appropriately when she said that she wants to know if '3 idiots' actually happens. Don't we all?
The uninhibited mischief, the hilarious pranks, the sleeping through lectures- It all sounds so alluring.
Some if my friends who have already started college far away from home tell me how totally awesome life there is. All concerns of homesickness have been put to rest. And it figures. Everyone is so engrossed in their newfound way of life that it is difficult to moan being away from home. Yes, friends and family are missed, but going to new places and adjusting to different environments is a part of growing up. It’s just all the more fun when you have the company of friends you know will stick with you through thick and thin (see Operation Disco in 5 Point someone).
