Hexing with Hex!

Three weeks into college and I having discovered what most college students do – procrastinate. My goodness, I hadn’t even imagined I would get this much free “to be whiled away” time! Lectures form a minute 20% of my day and the rest is just nothing. Though many societies have started their orientations, I haven’t yet found one which has caught my fancy. So, what I do in my “to be whiled away time”?

Of course, I hex! Before you begin to wonder if you are reading a wizard’s blog, I wish to make it clearer – I belong to an awesome site which goes by the url – www.hexrpg.com and is not only a good pastime, but to learn some home truths and be a good “virtual” individual.

What do I start with? So, basically it is a Harry Potter themed site; to be exact, it is a Role Playing game. Various forums dedicated to many places, books and themes such as Diagon Alley(The Chit Chat Haven :P ), the Room of Requirement, Great Hall, your Commonroom, Knockturn Alley, The Library, Hospital Wing and much more would keep you indulged.

But, before non Harry Potter fans turn away from this blog, I wish to reassure them that it isn’t only about the HP World. That’s why it is special! Accommodating people from various spheres, it has grown from a mere site to a virtual world. Except the fact that you can't touch each other, you would feel you are amongst a family. I feel so; my own Hex family, I proudly believe. Friendships are forged, something unique is what you get. 

Touching down on what you can do on Hex economically, you have Daily Money (You collect money every day), Dirigible Plums (You grow plums and sell them; keep in mind – if you forget to tend your plums for even a day of the week, they might burst), the Stock Exchange (You earn Dividends), Auctions and Silent Auctions. Canon and non – canon items have been released which are traded, bought, sold and displayed in your trophy cases! You learn how to save and how to spend; though it does take much time!

For those who love taking lessons, you have the option of taking canon lessons which are taught by the users themselves. I can assure you, they are pretty fun!

For those with an artistic streak in themselves, you have the Arts and Graphics forum and the Contest Forum. You would meet chums of your brethren and would find many opportunities to prune your skills!

Thinking of showcasing your literary pieces? There is the Fan Fiction forum for you to create books to showcase your best or worst writings and get critiques!

Love to write? Join as a teacher of the Hex teaching staff or as the writer of one of the publications (The Daily Prophet or the Quibbler).
