Govt Contemplates Autonomy for Good, Heavy Regulations for Non-Performing Institutes

The central government is planning to give autonomy to ‘good’ institutes and make them innovative hubs, while imposing heavy regulations on non-performing institutes. The idea to tag them as innovative hubs is to applaud institutes that encourage and support innovation. All the good institutes will be given autonomy and reduced regulations. The government aims at upgrading all the non-performing institutes. 

Union human resource and development minister, Prakash Javedkar stressed on improving the quality of education by providing a solution to institutes not being able to upgrade themselves and encourage those who have innovative ideas. The Centre also plans to come up with partnership between universities and industries to encourage innovations at bigger levels.

During a programme, Javedkar asserted that the country can make progress only through innovation and to accomplish this, the government is planning to take action.

Quality of Education: A Major Challenge

Prakash Javedkar, while addressing a conference, raised his concerns over quality of education in the country. According to him, education should be seen as an emancipator and agent of change.

India is a vast country and is an educational hub. It has numerous educational institutions including private, government and autonomous, yet the quality of education is still a major concern. Government is trying its best to find a solution that is best for the country’s education system.
