Internet giant Google is all set to open up a permanent and big campus in Hyderabad and will be signing up an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the same with the Telangana Government shortly. At present, they have two permanent campuses, one each in US and UK. This will be third campus that they are planning for Hyderabad.
The news was confirmed by Harpreet Singh, Secretary, Telangana IT, Electronics and Communications saying that the Government is likely to sign MOU with Google and they are soon going to open a campus at Hyderabad. He declined to go into further details, saying that a press conference is scheduled to be held shortly.
Singh also said Cisco, Airtel, Vodafone and a Taiwanese company, among others, have responded to the government’s interest on proposed venture to make Hyderabad a wi-fi enabled city. “Many of them are partnering and coming,” Singh said, adding the Taiwanese firm, in fact, was behind making Taipei a wi-fi enabled city.
Singh revealed that making the city wi-fi enabled would take time. Though the conceptualization of the idea is not difficult, however the monetization is.
There is a proposed budget of Rs 30 crore incubator facilities for technology start- ups. As indicated by Singh, it will be a 70,000 square feet facility with about 800 seats, housing an expected 500 start- ups.
The proposed date for the inauguration of the building is June 2nd, the first anniversary of the Telangana State formation.
