A Glimpse of TEDxHRCollege Held on 7th February, 2015

TEDxHRCollege took place on 7th February, 2015. Each and every person at the event was full of spirit, knowledge and had ideas worth spreading. 

Rayomand Anklesaria, the licensee of the event and Raunaq Vaisoha the co-organiser were the initiators of TEDx at H.R. College. It began in March, 2014 as TEDxHRCollegeLive, a live telecast of the TED 2014 Conference, held in Vancouver; celebrating TED’s 30th Anniversary. The speakers included Bill & Melinda Gates, Mark Ronson, Sting, among others. This year, they applied for & procured a license for a University Event with speakers live on stage; with their slogan “Ideas = Infinity(X)” [x being in mathematics, a representation of anything/everything]

The speakers were chosen by a team of 10 curators. They also supported the speakers’ Talks by providing help preparing their speech and carefully scripting the Talks to ensure maximum impact. This entire process took about 4-5 months from start to end.

Tina Tengra, Head of Social Media said, “Social Media was the key information transfer for all updates regarding the event. We had our work cut out for us. Generating a Fan-Following was just the half of it. Whether it was the change in dates or time or venue; my team and I strategized and successfully ensured all information was received by over 900 prospective attendees at all times.”

“We had over 350 applications for only 100 available seats at TEDxHRCollege. We had to devise a series of strategic questions to choose the best and most interested people only. We critically scrutinised roughly the applications and then released the golden 100 person list.” said Bhavna Seghal, Head of Registrations. Saakshi Gupta, Co-Head said, “We had applications from all over the world; from London University, Lancaster University, Boston University, MIT and even a person from NASA! I am amazed how wide spread the event’s word of mouth was in the initial year itself.”

TEDxHRCollege, brought to you by the BSE Institute, has truly taken a step into becoming one of H.R. College’s most recognised and awaited events of the year, with an anticipation to make this a long-lasting and great institution in the college.
