The last date for online registration for GATE 2015 examination has been extended from the earlier date of October 1 to October 14, 2014.
An update on the official website of GATE 2015 says,” Considering the devastating flood situation in the areas of Jammu and Kashmir, the last date for the GATE 2015 on-line application submission has been extended till 14th October 2014.”
The GATE exam is scheduled to be conducted on 31st January, 1st, 7th, 8th and 14th February, 2015.
Validity of GATE 2015 score will be for a period of 3 years only from the date of declaration of results.
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is the organizing institute for GATE 2015.
About GATE
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted at an all India level to primarily test the comprehensive understanding of the candidate in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science.
The marks obtained in GATE exam are used for admission to post-graduate courses like M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D. in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies.
The scores of GATE 2015 will not only be used for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), etc., several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also use GATE scores for employment screening purposes. A select few such organizations are: Indian Oil Corporation Limited, National Thermal Power Corporation, Power Grid India, etc.
This year also, a number of PSUs will use GATE 2015 scores to recruit trainee engineers for various engineering specializations.
