Bihar is India's most flood-prone State, with 76% of the population in the north Bihar living under the recurring threat of flood devastation. This year is no exception. State has experienced hug destruction due to heavy rain fall. Flood waters have uprooted over 49 lakh people as all the 13 major rivers, including the Ganga, are in spate inundating 12 districts.
The swirling Ganga waters have inundated over 100 villages and damaged standing crops in Katihar and Bhagalpur districts.
Keeping the devastation in mind J.P University has postponed its exams to September 14, 2013. University says that it will intimated about the next date sheet once situation comes under control
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday made an aerial survey of the flooded areas on the bank of the Ganga in Patna district and directed the officials make proper arrangements for relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
