Hansraj College, New Delhi marks a point in the history of 67 years by appointing Dr. Rama as its first female Principal after a successful tenure of Dr. V. K. Khwatra, the outgoing principal. Dr. Rama started her career with Hansraj with a post of Assistant Professor for Hindi at the College in August 1991. Apart from being the first female principal, she’s also the first ever-appointed Principal from the Hindi Department at Hansraj College.
Dr. Rama is a former scholar of Delhi University. She graduated with her degree in MA and M Phil (TV Media) from the respective University. She did her Ph. D in Journalism and Magazine Media from same. She also possesses a Post MA Diploma in Translations and Linguistics with a widely recognised diploma in Journalism from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) along with a degree from Kota Open University in BJMC.
Dr. Rama has shown her talent in the field of writing by writing nine books out of which five are related to mass communication and the rest are literature and related subjects. “Women and Print Media”, an award winning book by her received accolade by India Map magazine. She was endowed with the title of ‘Best Teacher’ award within the tenure of her teaching career.
