Aspirants of Delhi University will take a relief breath. DU will start its admission process for all UG course from June 2, 2014. Students cleared their 12th with flying colours can apply and can opt for colleges of their choice in the application form.
Affiliated college of DU will bring out five cutoff lists for the general category and the first list will be out on June 24, the day admissions begin. Candidates can also apply for any college and there will be no cap on the colleges a candidate can choose.
According to the source this time DU would not conduct any entrance test for non-professional courses like English and admissions will be based on cutoff marks.
State boards like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Nagaland and Himachal Pradesh has already declared their class 12 or HSC results and for the rest of the boards results are expected by the end of this month. As per Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officials, this year 2,91,414 candidates have registered for the class XII board examinations, which is 30,000 more compared to the last year hinting at cutoffs going higher.
Students have two options for apply, online and offline. With the introduction of centralised admission process, there will be no sale of forms in individual colleges, except for those candidates applying under sports and extracurricular activities categories.
Moreover DU has extended the sport quota upto PG level. The University only permitted admission under sports quota for Bachelor's degrees till last year but now the facility has been extended for postgraduate courses.
