Taking the easy way out ~ Applying online!

When someone asks me whether I have filled in the OMR form for College Admissions, I blink rapidly and reply, ‘Ummm... I filled in the online form.’ An incredulous look appears in the face of the speaker. The next question that follows is ‘Was that advisable?’ Honestly! I feel really annoyed when someone asks me this particular question. I begin to wonder what edge the OMR forms holds over the online one.

Standing in the stifling heat, getting confused over various options, blotting the wrong options and then rushing to buy a new form, does it seem feasible? I don’t think so. The online experience is easy, quick and comfortable. No being fuzzed out or anything, you just need to have the proper knowledge. And that was what I did too. Avoiding the perils of getting out of the house when the sun was blazing at 45 degrees, I commenced on a short and sweet journey.

To be fully aware of the facts, I downloaded the Admission Prospectus and brochure. Searching online for news archives, I collected all the material available and familiarised myself with all the terms and rules. Warding off the confusion about Elective and Academic subjects, the disadvantages of changing streams and noting down the admission deadlines was the first step undertaken. Having done so, I proceeded towards registering myself on the DU website. The first ten attempts were unsuccessful and I had to register the next day.

Having entered my personal information and the subjects with their respective marks was an easy affair. Now, the final task was the payment. Some clicks, come choices to be made and the payment was through. Redirected back to the DU site, I took a print of the receipt and heaved a sigh of relief. I was done, my application form submitted. Absolutely no hassles, no confusion and a big no to experiencing infeasible situations!

St Stephens’s application form was a bit different. I found out that it is quite weary to talk about yourself, not to say, write it in civil language. Though it was quite fun when I had to list my hobbies, interests and skills. Again the payment and I was done.

I now remain, my mind at peace, having sent in my application. (Not really, I am apprehensive about the cut offs, as everyone is, of course.)
