Professional Courses are in demand these days. Traditional UG/PG courses have start losing the importance as their place is partly taken by professional courses. Today’s students are more inclined to take professional course rather going for a strait degree. Various specializations are also there which attracts the students a lot.
Keeping in mind the growing demand of professional courses among students, the Department of Commerce of the Delhi University has launched a new programme -- Masters of Human Resource and Organizational Development (MHROD), which is a new version of specialized HR course.
This course is set up to outfit the growing needs of the industry for some good professionally qualified students in human resource and organizational development work. This course will provide specialization in HR and organizational skills and is considered to be different from the general MBA degree.
Who can apply?
Aspirants having completed bachelor’s degree from University of Delhi or equivalent can seek admission to both the courses.
Such candidates must possess minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
Age of the candidate must not be less than 20 years. Foreign students having these qualifications are also eligible to apply.
Selection process:
Selection of candidates is made on the basis of CAT score, group discussion and interview. Candidates are short listed for group discussion on the priority basis of marks obtained in Common Admission Test (CAT). Those who perform well in group discussion will be selected for the final round i.e. personal interview session.
Course Duration:
Total tenure of this course is two years and will have four semesters in which students need to take up seven courses in each. The number of seats engaged is 146 for the course.
In first year the curriculum covers various management concepts as of industrial relations, training and development, compensation management and employee management, negotiations and union management. And the second year comprises of research projects and dissertation papers for students. Summer internship is also conducted in which students have to make a report on the areas they worked on, their contribution and also a conclusion.
Faculty Strength:
University has managed to have strong and qualified faculties for this course. There are about 10 permanent teachers, 13 adhoc and 14-15 visiting teachers mostly from industries who use to comedown for lecture while needed.
After completion of this programme the students serve as managers or assistant managers in various HR departments of different organizations.
As per Sunaina Kanojia, assistant professor and course coordinator, MHROD, Department of Commerce, DU says this course will give the students an interdisciplinary perspective and will also allow them to practice what they have learned in class through a summer internship placement.
