DU Colleges reserve 5% of the total seats for the Sports and ECA quota

Delhi University, this year, has decided to reserve 5% of the total seats for the Sports and the ECA (Extra Curricular Activities) quota in all its colleges. According to the new guidelines, the candidates under these categories would be evaluated on a supernumerary basis. The candidates need to contact the college directly. Each college has a Sports Admission Committee, which consists of its Physical Education teacher as the convener, and the Principal as the Chairperson. Other members of the committee include one DU Vice Chancellor’s observer, DU Sports Council Representative, regular bona fide Sports Student Representative and an expert nominated by the college from the confidential list given the DU Sports Council.

The colleges are required to indicate the number of players required for each sport in their prospectus. The candidates would be judged under the sports trials and the sports certificates consisting of 50 marks each. Each candidate is required to obtain at least 18 marks in all. The selection procedure would consist of two categories; Super Category and the Trial Category. Candidates who participated in the international level sporting events will fall under the‘ super’ category. The rest need to take the fitness test along with the sports trials. The candidates would be judged on the basis of their strength, endurance and speed.

Lists of the finally selected candidates containing trial marks, certificate marks and other details as well as the course allotted to them would be displayed on the University’s website. The candidates would be required to submit a copy of their class XII mark sheet to the DU Sports Council at the earliest.

The University has also constituted a grievance committee consisting Secretary, DU sports council as its convener to address any grievances relating to the sports admission.
