Here’s a good piece of news in store for the students with vocational subjects in class 12th! The students with vocational or elective subjects can now apply for the UG courses in DU as its admission system has allowed such subjects to be a part of the best of four.
Mr. J M Khurana, the Dean of Students’ Welfare, Delhi University, announced that this technical change in the application would allow the students to include upto 3 vocational subjects in their percentage of best of four. This means that a student with one language and three vocational subjects or elective can now apply for admissions in DU.
This has been not only a big relief but, a big opportunity for the students who have one or more than one elective subjects.
However, 10% of the maximum marks will be deducted while calculating their aggregate. Hence, this still does not make the life very easy for students with vocational subjects.
Subjects like home science, physical education and music in class 12th will be counted as academic courses for those students who wish to pursue the same courses further in DU as well. This has somehow opened the doors for a huge number of students.
Thirteen new academic subjects such as mass media, legal studies heritage studies among the others have been proposed to be recognized for the admissions of students in the degree program.
This might encourage the 10th and 12th students to opt for more than one vocational subject, if the process remains so in future.
