Dr Nand Kumar Yadav Indu from Bhagalpur University has been appointed as new Vice Chancellor for Central University of Jharkhand, replacing A N Mishra, the acting VC.
University professor from PG department of Bhagalpur University, Dr. Nand Kumar Yadav Indu took charge on Saturday evening within less than 24 hours of receiving the directive from Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
It was a kind of partial victory of students who were on strike and irked over the general mismanagement and incident of food poisoning in particular, due to which university was closed.
Speaking to a reported daily VC said that students' welfare will be his first priority and a meeting was convened with senior teachers and non-teaching staff of the institute on Sunday to find out measures for resuming classes.
In his priority list VC emphasised to make the university student oriented as university is not meant for the management and has its relevance only when students are around. But foremost task is to resume the university classes as soon as possible.
He also plans to shift the University to a new campus in near future. He also admitted that due to lack of financial resources the last leg work in the new campus is still pending. All these will be taken care on priority basis so that shifting will be hassle free.
