The University of Delhi (DU) has collaborated with the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) to facilitate the introduction of skill-based courses.
The objective behind the collaboration is to provide comprehensive and employment-oriented education to students.
These skill-based programmes are going to be introduced at the undergraduate level and they may be add-on, short-term, compulsory or long-term courses.
The MoU, signed between Dinesh Singh, DU vice chancellor, and Dilip Chenoy, managing director and CEO of NSDC, is aimed at improving the employment potential of students with systematic training, certificates of competency, and placement assistance.
Some of the ways in which students would benefit include acquiring special skills for jobs and entrepreneurial ventures.
Students will be provided training in sectors such as banking, financial services and insurance, IT and IT-enabled services, healthcare, media and entertainment, tourism and hospitality and automative industry.
NSDC is going to help nearly 70% students get jobs and start their own ventures. These skill-based courses would be available in all Delhi University colleges.
The agreement is expected to integrate skill-based training as part of the graduation curriculum.
NSDC will provide the curriculum and training through its approved training partners, which will be shortlisted and selected through a joint process by NSDC and DU.
