Delhi Girl, Tina Dabi Bags Top Position in UPSC Exams

Twenty two year old, Delhi based Tina Dabi bagged the first spot in the Civil Services Examination 2015, conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in her first attempt. Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan from Jammu & Kashmir secured the second position followed by Jasmeet Singh Sandhu from Delhi in the third. The results were declared on 10th May, 2022, Tuesday.

The Winning Streak

A graduate in Political Science from Lady Sri Ram College, Dabi is an alumnus of Convent of Jesus & Mary school. Both her parents are Indian Engineering Services (IES) officers. The topper has chosen Haryana as her preferred cadre. She chose Haryana because she wants to work in a challenging environment especially catering to women and gender equality issues, which are close to her heart.

23 year old, Athar Aamir who stood second is a resident of Anantnag in South Kashmir who was undergoing training at the Indian Railways Institute of Transport and Management, Lucknow. Last year, he secured 560th rank. This was his second attempt. He has opted for Jammu & Kashmir cadre as he chooses to work for the betterment of people there. 

Jasmeet Singh Sandhu who is in the third position is an Indian Revenue Service Officer from Delhi. He is currently undergoing training at National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics in Faridabad. This was his fourth attempt.

Amongst the 9.4 lakh applicants for the prestigious exam, 2,797 candidates got shortlisted for personality test, out of which 1,078 were recommended for appointment. There are still 172 other candidates in the waiting list. Rest of the names will be uploaded on the official website of the UPSC exam within 15 days of declaration of the results.

On the occasion, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to congratulate the toppers.

“Congrats to all those who cleared the Civil Services Exam. My good wishes as they commence a new & exciting phase of their lives,” Modi wrote on Twitter. “To those who couldn’t clear — the disappointment is understandable but you must look ahead & work hard for your future endeavours. Good luck,” he wrote in his other tweet.
