Cutoff into Oblivion

After staring blankly and disbelievingly at the Television screen for the past hour as news channels flashed the cut offs, I have finally been able to pull myself together and share my still scrambled thoughts with anyone who would care to listen. My mom and dad and all my Facebook friends have already heard me spew venom against whoever it is who sets the cutoffs. Now it’s your turn to listen to my extremely intellectual whining.

I want to start off by thanking the heavens for me making it to the LSR cutoffs for the J&M course. Then I want to very politely rebuke the administration for making it all awkward between friends by releasing cutoffs that only a few lucky ones will clear. It is common knowledge that one cannot truly laud a friend’s achievement when one is oneself unsure of what the future holds. (My liberal use of ‘one’ is due to my protest against the English language for arbitrarily imposing on us poor folk the use of either him or her when stating something, either way you end up offending- patriarchs or feminists take your pick!)

The cutoff for journalism and mass communication at DCAC is 98.5-99.75. The sheer incredulity of this insanely high cutoff is fascinating. The CBSE topper himself has scored 99.6%. I can totally picture the riveted silence with which the class(read empty) will listen to the professor.

So anyway the cutoffs are crazy. But you know what is crazier? The fact that students have to reach the college gates with all documents in hand at the crack of dawn if they intend to file their applications tomorrow. (Just a tip- I use hyperbole a lot). I think I’ll probably just camp outside the college!
