Academic programmes of CUSAT (Cochin University of Science & Technology) are open to all Indian / foreign nationals irrespective of caste, creed, race or sex, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility criteria / admission test requirements. The various tests to be taken for different programmes are:
1. Under Graduate Programmes
Admission to seats for the various under graduate programmes offered at the School of Engineering, Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering, Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad (including 10% NRI seats) and under graduate programmes offered in the Department of Instrumentation, Ship Technology, Polymer Science and Rubber Technology and Centre of Excellence in Lasers & Opto Electronic Sciences will be based on the “Common Admission Test” (CAT) of CUSAT, open to all Indian nationals with test centres in all district headquarters in Kerala, and in selected centres outside Kerala.
2. Post Graduate Programmes
Admission to seats for the various post graduate programmes except M.Phil and M.Tech and 5 year B.B.A.LL.B (Hons) programme of the University will be based on the Common Admission Test (CAT) of CUSAT, open to all Indian nationals, with test centres in all district headquarters in Kerala.
3. Lateral Entry to III semester B.Tech Programme
The University offers admission to the third semester of B.Tech. Programmes in B.Tech. in:
- Civil Engg.,
- Computer Science & Engg.,
- Electrical & Electronics Engg.,
- Electronics & Communication Engg.,
- Information Technology,
- Instrumentation Technology,
- Mechanical Engg.,
- Polymer Science & Engineering and
- Safety & Fire Engg.
conducted by the Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad; School of Engineering, Trikkakara Department of Instrumentation and Polymer Science & Rubber Technology, Trikkakara campus through Lateral Entry Scheme.
Candidates with any three year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the B.Tech. programme through Lateral Entry Scheme. The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July 2012.Admissions will be based on the rank in an admission test, (Lateral Entry Test LET)conducted for the purpose. Selected candidates will have to undergo remedial courses as decided by the University. Details regarding age limit, eligibility criteria etc. will be published in the Notification. Test Centre for Lateral Entry to B.Tech Programmes (LET) will be only at Kochi.
4. M.Phil, Ph.D, MA (Translation), Diploma, Certificate Programmes
Applicants for all Certificate/Diploma programmes, MA Translation(German/Russian), all M.Tech., M.Phil & Ph.D programmes will be required to appear for the Departmental Admission Test (DAT) conducted in the respective Department / School of CUSAT on dates to be announced later and to be intimated individually to the applicants.
The application for these courses (except M. Tech) is to be obtained from the respective Departments by remitting requried Application Fee as DD drawn in favour of "Registrar, CUSAT", payable at Cochin. For M. Tech courses, the application is to be submitted online.
The DAT applications can be obtained from Departments between 16th January to 20th February 2012.
