The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has extended the last date for deposit of fee and submission of online application for Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET).

The last date for depositing fee now has been extended to 22nd August and for online submission of application form the extended date is 23rd August. Students can however submit the hard copy of online application form till 29th August and 4th September (for candidates from remote areas).

The Examination Unit also mentions that that the subject wise schedule of the examination will be notified later.

The exam will be held on 21st December 2014 which will determine the eligibility of candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for their appointment as lecturers in subjects that fall under the faculty of Science & Technology.

 

Exam format for CSIR UGC NET 2014

The exam will held in two sessions  Morning session will be from 9 am to 12 noon while the afternoon session will be from 2 pm to 5 pm. Duration of the CSIR-UGC NET question paper will be three hours. It will carry a maximum of 200 marks, have multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and will be divided into three parts:

Part A: It is a common section and will have a maximum of 20 questions related to General Aptitude. Candidates will have to do any 15 of these questions. Each question will carry 2 marks and the section will carry a maximum of 30 marks.

Part B: It will carry conventional MCQs related to the subject. No. of questions to be attempted can be in the range of 20 to 35. It will carry a total of 70 marks out of 200.

Part C: It will carry higher value questions which may be analytical in nature to test candidates’ knowledge and application of scientific concepts. This section will carry a maximum of 100 marks out of 200.

There is negative marking in the exam too.
