SIES College of Management Studies conducted a “Corporate Interaction Session” on September 28, 2013 for MMS and PGDM separately.

There were four CI Sessions held where different speakers had delivered their speech. Sessions were segregated into MMS A, MMS B, PGDM A and PGDM B. Each group contains a topic to discuss. Details are given below.

 

MMS A: “Capital Market Overview”

The Guest speaker was Mr. Smitesh Amul Desai. He is an associate Member, Graduate in Science and holds a bachelor degree in Law. He started his career as a Banker, worked with TATAS and BASF prior to commencing practice in 1998. He is Consultant with CCGRT and contributed write ups for CCGRT publication on Service Tax.

Mr. Smitesh shared all his experiences while investing in stock market. He also explained that “Why investing in Stock Market is so important in this modern age”.

India's household savings, one of the highest in the world, can be channelized through equities, bonds and other instruments to achieve greater financial inclusion and improve the financial markets in India. But unfortunately household savings are not getting invested in stock markets. Measures have been put in place to check issues like over-pricing of shares and listing day manipulation, and to ensure confirmed allotment to small investors. Mr. Smitesh also spoke about how a small & consistent investment can be compounded to a surplus amount by investing meticulously.

MMS B: Advertising may be described as the science of arresting the human intelligence long enough to get money from it

To share his views on the topic Mr.Dipesh Dohi an alumnus of SIESCOMS was invited for the interactive session.

Mr. Doshi has more than 6years of experience across Print, TV and Internet domains. He previously worked as a Senior Manager-Brand Solution at IBIBO Web. Pvt. Ltd and Senior Executive at INX News Ltd. Currently he is working as the Account Manager, Ad sales –UTV Movies at Disney UTV (A Walt Disney India).he completed his graduation from NMIMS Advertising is a powerful communication tool used by marketers to encourage, persuade their audience into picking their product or brand over the others.

Earlier advertising was just about making people aware of your product. But gradually it has evolved and today advertising means placing your product into people’s mind in such a manner that other products are completely out casted from competition. Today it is an intense battle.
Mr. Doshi also spoke about the various media forms such as internet print, radio, tv etc that can be used in creating awareness and also the pros and cons of each. He also spoke about the various career opportunities we had in this field.

 

PGDM A: Roles and functions of hr manager in an organisation

Mr S S Mahila Pandian, HR head Safe and Secure logistics, who spoke on the roles and functions of HR in an organisation and shared his rich experience of working in the corporate. He not only explained in context to an hr point of view but he also coverd the other specialisation also i. e basically about interaction with people and its importance in an organization.

 

PGDM B: Marketing & Operations as a career

Mr. Selvan Paul – Senior Business Manger at BASF India Ltd., spoke about

• Marketing & Operations as a career

• How BASF started its paint business from 2006 by partnering with various car makers AUDI, BMW, etc.

• How he managed to grow in life by working in marketing since he finished 1990.

• He tried explaining terms like Capex and other financial terms by emphasizing on strong pillars on which BASF is built.
