CMAT stands for Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) which is a computer-based test conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), India. It is a national level test for those seeking admission in management programmes approved by AICTE. CMAT exam is conducted twice a year in the month of February and September. You can appear for CMAT exam both times. The better of the two scores will be used for admission.
The first CMAT for admission in 2014-15 had been conducted in the month of September and the second CMAT will be conducted from February 20, 2014 to February 24, 2014. The registration process will end by 16th of January, 2014.

By launching CMAT, AICTE has reduced the mental, physical as well as financial stress of students appearing for multiple MBA entrance exams conducted by various B-Schools across the country. The first edition of CMAT was conducted in 2012 and it had covered almost 4 lakh seats in the AICTE approved management programmes across India.
Now, let’s take a look at the kind of questions that would be asked in the exam.
Exam Pattern:
There are four sections in the exam i.e. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. There will be 25 questions under each section which make the total of 100 questions and total marks of 400 (100 marks for each category) as mentioned below.

There shall be negative marking for wrong answers and 1 mark will be deducted for each.
How to prepare:
Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation – The questions generally asked in this section are related to the subjects like Statistics, Geometry, Data Sufficiency, Pie Charts, Probability, Average, Equations, Simple Interests and TSD.
Suggestion: You must take as many mock tests as you can.
Logical Reasoning – The questions in this section will be asked on Linear Arrangements, Venn diagram, Visual and Critical Reasoning, Matrix Arrangements, Puzzles etc.
Suggestion: You would need to brush up your basic Mathematics skills.
Language Comprehension – The questions in this section will be asked jumbled sentences, synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks, identify the correct sentence, convert from active to passive and vice versa etc. This section is meant to check your reading comprehension skills, Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Ability, grammar and usage of words.
Suggestion: Read magazines, newspapers, articles etc. for a good command over English language)
General Awareness – This section will be comprised of questions on current affairs, latest happenings, general knowledge, business scenario etc.
Suggestion: You need to be familiar with current affairs and latest happenings. Therefore, read magazines newspapers and articles on current affairs. You can also participate in online quizzes.

Since CMAT is a national level entrance test, it is meant to have wide roots all over India. There are almost 63 cities across India that will conduct February CMAT 2014.
