Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi, students went on a strike on 26th July 2015 and are demanding the appointment of a permanent Vice Chancellor for the University. They want the current Vice Chancellor, Mr. A.N. Mishra to resign immediately.
The strike was a result of about 26 students falling ill due to food poisoning. The affected students had to be admitted to the nearby hospital.
Students are currently being promised that this instance will be brought into the knowledge of MHRD- Ministry of Health and Rural Development for immediate action.
However, Mr. A.N. Mishra announced that the University will remain closed for repair work and maintenance for 15 days.
