In a move towards transparency, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has ordered all the affiliated schools to disclose their fees on their respective websites.
This step will give parents an insight into the facilities available at these schools and the fee being charged by them.
CBSE, the only body governing the secondary education in the nation, released an official notification pointing out that the affiliation byelaws of the board stipulates that fees charged should be commensurate with the facilities provided by the institution.
The management of these schools have to release fee details not ontly on their respective websites, but also on the official portal of CBSE latest by October 31 to prevent any misleading information.
According to sources, this action has been taken amid recent complaints from parents over arbitrary fee hike.
In June, CBSE had issued an advisory to all its affiliated schools stating that they shouldn’t charge exorbitant fees from students.
However, the board received complaints from parents that many schools weren’t following the advisory.
Now, it has become mandatory for all schools to disclose the fee structure and circulars have been sent to all the principals regarding the same.
According to a senior official, “the information will be uploaded periodically on half-yearly basis.”
