CAT 2016 Registrations Highest in Last 7 Years

After the CAT 2022 registration was extended from September 22, 2022, it ceased on September 27, 2022 at 5 PM. This time, aspirants who want to make it to the Indian Institute of Management (IIMS) are highest in the last seven years, as IIM Bangalore received 232,434 applications. The admit card for the CAT 2022 exam will be up for download from 1 PM on October 18, 2022 and the exam is to be conducted on December 4, 2022.

Last year, the number of students who registered for the CAT 2022 was 218,664. As per the IIM Bangalore – CAT 2022 conducting body – the total registrations on September 22, 2022 was 2.08 lakh. However, extending the registration date by five days paid off considerably well as the number reached to 3.32 lakhs. This is the third time in a row that CAT conducting body has extended the CAT registration date.

The number of applicants is highest since 2010. While majority of the candidates, which is 67 percent of the total, are male, the percentage of female applicants has increased marginally by one percent. At the same time, the number Persons with Disability (PwD) has increased from 901 to 938. 

“However, if we look at the total increase in the applications compared to last year, which is close to 14,000, almost half of these additional applications have come from female candidates.  This is a positive sign.  That means, the increase of female candidates is more than the increase of male candidates,” Professor Rajendra K. Bandi, Convenor, CAT 2022 was quoted as saying.
