The first evening slot of this year’s one of the most awaited management exams, CAT 2014, is over. This slot was quite close to the morning slot in terms of difficulty. There were no major changes in the structure. For all of you looking at this slot’s paper analysis we bring you a detailed one, by Mr. Gautam Puri, the current chairman of Career Launcher. Mr. Puri, more lovingly known as GP, has shared the analysis in his blog, ‘GP ka funda’.

Evening Slot:

The second slot on the first day of CAT 2014 had no surprises as such and the difficulty level also remained as the first slot. The questions were quite lengthy and due to which managing the time was the bigger challenge for the test takers of this slot.

  • Quantitative Ability (QA): 34 questions
  • Data Interpretation (DI): 16 questions (in four sets of four questions each)
  • Verbal Logic (VL) and Usage: 18 questions
  • Logical Reasoning (LR) and Reading Comprehension (RC): 16 questions

Section wise Difficulty:

QA and DI:
The Quant and Data interpretation section was moderate to difficult. The questions were well spread from each topic. Geometry and Numbers had the maximum questions in this section.

VA and RC:
The Verbal Section was comparatively tougher than the others in which Logical Reasoning comprised of the toughest part with 4 questions. There were 4 RC passages with 4 sets of questions in each. The passages were not very though there were inference based questions. Grammar usage, para jumbles and summary based questions were asked under the usage.

Expectations from CAT 2014 on November 22nd

The CAT takers for the next slotted date are recommended to be prepared for any surprises that might be thrown. And as for sectional tips, LR and DI should be under focus.
