The season of prolonged waiting at the counters for forms and the run to make it to the best colleges is back. It is admission time at the Delhi University. Anxiousness over marks, pangs of nervous excitement before the cut off lists, exchange of pens, fevicols and staplers among complete strangers connected through the bond of uncertainty over the future, braving the sun in the hottest month of the year are the scenes that repeat themselves year after year .
So here is a list of things you need to remember to survive this admission process:
1) Needless to say carry your androids (with a lot of BALANCE),
2) Do not leave the house without an umbrella, loads of water and energy drinks to beat the “dilli ki garmi”
3) Make sure to apply a lot of sunscreen and sun bloc, deodorant, lipbalm, carry a pair of glares, and a scarf (to maintain your skin texture and smell!)
4) Wear loose and comfortable clothes (to avoid getting pricks and rashes)
5) Carry a lot of lose change so that you don’t miss the opportunity to ride one of those overloaded e-rickshaws
6) Wear flip flops and sneakers as you will have to stand for an unlimited period of time in those long queues (without complaining)
7) Carry photocopies of all your documents along with the originals and a lot of passport size photographs (in case you accidently run into a director who has come for his son’s/daughter’s admission)
8) Ensure you have black, blue pens (with considerable amount of ink), pencils, erasers, fevicols, staplers and paper clips (all in plural so as to be kind and helpful to mankind there)
