In the wake of board exams, it is natural to feel tensed and anxious about how you’re going to perform at the final hour. However, it is essential that we deal with these fears in a more methodical way. By facing these emotions head on, we can find success in reducing our insecurities and anxieties, if not eliminating it completely because, at times it is important to feel a little stress to feel motivated to perform in a highly competitive world.

The only key to battle anxiety is preparation. By charting out a plan of action, we can feel more confident and in control. There are certain factors and practices which you can incorporate to make a good preparation module in your final stride to the boards this year.

Subject Division: It will be good to start with a study plan by combining favourite and not-so-favourite subjects.

Time Table: You should chalk out a revision time table which should include sufficient sleep as well as relaxation.

Review Schedule: Review your study progress from time to time.

Notes: Make your text books more user friendly with summary notes, headings and sub-headings.

Practice: Also, try completing at least two model test papers per day. That would induce more confidence in you to tackle similar questions.

Place of Study: Some of us like to study in solitude, while some prefer studying with friends. Find out what works for you best, and take up that pattern of revision.

Physical Health and Lifestyle: Looking at the enormous syllabus can get stressful at times; student’s often panic and are unable to concentrate. Psychologists from all over the world have suggested deep breathing techniques, which tend to diminish anxiety by lowering the heart rate and blood pressure. It is important to remind yourself that everything is under control and keep urging yourself to remain calm.

Do remember, you should not sit continuously for long hours to read as it will tire you out and reduce your concentration levels. Also, do not drink excessive amounts of tea or coffee to keep awake the whole night. Temporarily you may feel wakeful, but eventually you’ll end up feeling more tired and drenched. It is important to tune the body clock according to the examination time; you should avoid late night studying just before the exam as you may feel drowsy while writing your answers. Maintain a healthy and flexible lifestyle during the exams and believe in your strength to overcome any odds with a smile.
