BITS Pilani Campus Placements 2014: Google Offers Rs 1.4 Crore Pay!

Internet search giant Google has offered an annual package of Rs 1.40 crore to students at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS)-Pilani.

BITS, Pilani campus placement session for 2014 flagged off on August 18.

The breath-taking job offer of Rs 1.40 crore is for candidates who have cleared the first round (written) of recruitment process. However, the offers will be finalized when the candidates will be screened further by Google’s HR team members who are scheduled to visit India in the first week of September.

Last year, social networking giant Facebook made an offer of Rs 1.44 crore pay to one of the students at BITS-Pilani.

With Google’s whopping pay offer, the institute is hoping to break Facebook’s record offer this year.

Other technology and e-commerce players visiting the campus this year include Linkedln, Microsoft, Flipkart, Schlumberger, Goldman Sachs and Amazon.

Not just that, these dream companies have increased their compensation offer by 5-25%.

2,300 BITS students at its three centres — Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad are eligible for campus placements this year. Out of these, 150 students have been. The placement session at Goa and Hyderabad campuses began on August 13, 2014.

Facebook, which offered the highest package to one of the BITS students in 2013, will not be visiting the BITS campus this year.

The institute is confident that 100% students will get placements by the end of April 2015.

Some students have also shown interest in joining the public sector undertakings (PSUs). In addition, there are a lot of BITS students are going for start-ups instead of college placements.

G Balasubramanium, chief placement officer at BITS-Pilani, says that 10 students, out of the ones who have opted out of the placement session, have already started their business in IT and Communication sectors.
