Students at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) are encouraging cashless transactions by launching a new campaign.
As part of this, students at the University are urging people on campus to shift and adopt the digitisation of payments on campus. The university administration is installing PoS machines in all its hospitals in Varanasi to promote the same.
The cashless campus drive called, ‘Mera Mobile Mera Batua,’ was launched by BHU students on Friday, a day after PM Modi encouraged citizens of Varanasi to move to digital payment methods.
The administration of BHU has taken steps for the installation of Point of Sale (PoS) machines at its 15 registration counters, to be able to receive payments from its patients.
Apart from the registration counters, it has also gone ahead to install the PoS machines at the medical stores inside the Sir Sunder Lal Hospital and Trauma Centre campus.
The State Bank of India provided 35 such machines to the administration. 20 machines out of the 35 were installed at the hospitals and 15 at registration counters to enable patients to make payments, stated the statement released by the university.
