Bhawanipur Education Society College- Alternative Career Counseling Seminar

Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC), Kolkata conducted an Alternative Career Counseling Session to help the students navigate their path towards a promising career option ahead. Professionals from across fields were invited to grace the occasion. The event began with an inspiring speech by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah where he emphasised on the steps taken by the college to make new avenues available to the students, for instance, through the introduction of Commerce+ Course. A booklet and a short video were unveiled by him for the same.

In today’s world, young talents are attracted by easy money. Mr. Pramod Maloo, a digital engineer, who was one of the invited experts, reiterated this fact and offered students internship options where they could explore how digital medium holds potential for marketers as well as consumers, and also how they could find their way through the industry in a promising way.


 

A student can perform best when he/she knows what they are good at. Psychometric Profiling Test, is a medium through which students can evaluate their knowledge, abilities and personalities and other hidden traits. Mrs. Roshan Devdasan, a renowned face in the field of Psychometric Profiling Test, equipped the students with the worth of this test at the seminar.

Courses like Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Management (FRM) are gaining the attention of the youth nowadays due to the professional background attached to it. Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is yet another body that fosters the development of management accounting profession worldwide. All these fields enclose immense scope. The entry level jobs like that of Management Trainee, Executive Trainee, Business Analysts, Insurance Analysts offer around Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh per annum depending on the recruiting company.

Other career options that were discussed during the seminar were public services, politics, entertainment industry related careers etc.

At the end of the session, students interacted with the speakers and cleared their doubts alongwith getting in depth knowledge and understanding of  their chosen field.
