To begin with, let’s try defining a typical Indian. A person with television and bollywood contributing majorly to the way he thinks; one who over-thinks of god and often misses the defining part of this concept called faith; one who criticizes like a pro and introspects like a novice and who is mesmerized by the fancy impractical ideas brought to him by the money-over-quality types of business people. Shall we define it that way?

How about a person made of fundamentals whose thinking is more affected by the books he reads; who dares (rather enjoys) travelling the less travelled path; whose god doesn’t ask for money and time but a truthfulness to himself; or someone who belongs to the sought after class of Indian employees all over the world?

The two descriptions did come off like opposites of each other, but they are ideal descriptions, not so real. In reality, most of us are a mix of the two.

I myself support the idea that generalizing any group of people whatsoever isn’t sensible enough. Each of us six CJs ourselves is a different personality after all. But the fact that commons exist can’t also be neglected. In the same frame of reference, we CJs have a common interest in literature and writing.

So, it can be aptly said that the characteristics mentioned above reside in Indians more than in other nationals. And these only either make us excluded or stand out from others.

The mix that I was talking about will always be there, and it’s rather impractical to look for someone who fits the second descriptions. But the problem is that it’s an unsatisfying ratio. Most of us have the characteristics of 1st type in more magnitude than the second. We just got to look for the part of us that belongs to the second type and feel more realistic about it. We should be conscious of being the person who thinks-and-say, not the one who hears-and-say. We always have a positive voice in ourselves to guide us of what we should do, but we let the devil in us drive our actions.
